Vivos FAQs

How does the Vivos System work?

The Vivos System is a revolutionary way to use daytime-nighttime oral appliance therapy to treat nasal/dental abnormalities and mild-to-moderate cases of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), usually without the need for a lifetime of nightly intervention. The Vivos Method uses daytime-nighttime oral appliances to correct the underlying cause of airway obstruction, gradually opening a patient’s oral cavity and creating necessary growth in the mouth and airway to help patients breathe better at night.

How effective is the Vivos System?

Vivos boasts an incredibly high success rate among the 33,000 patients who have used it worldwide to treat craniofacial abnormalities that lead to OSA. Grass Roots Dental Wellness’ Dr. Kati Hetrick is specially trained in the Vivos Method and is helping our patients find lasting relief from the symptoms of OSA, increasing their overall quality of life in immeasurable ways.

Is the Vivos System safe?

Absolutely! The Vivos System is a nonsurgical, FDA-approved method of correcting facial and/or nasal abnormalities that lead to OSA, a sleep disorder that affects millions of American children and adults.

How long does it take for the Vivos System to work?

If patients follow the multidisciplinary approach as explained by Dr. Hetrick — which will include occasional visits to our office for adjustments — they can expect to notice improvements within the first few days, weeks and months of using the Vivos System! Most patients have found permanent relief from OSA symptoms within 18 months of using the Vivos daytime-nighttime oral appliance device.

Is the Vivos System painful?

Each oral appliance is custom-designed to fit a patient’s mouth comfortably. Users report that wearing the Vivos oral appliance device is more comfortable than a CPAP mask, leading to a better quality of sleep even during treatment.

How much does Vivos cost?

As with most medical or dental treatments, the Vivos System’s cost depends on the severity of the case. After a comprehensive exam and diagnosis, Dr. Hetrick can provide a customized cost estimate for treatment. While the Vivos System may seem more expensive than other available treatment plans, it is designed to permanently correct the craniofacial abnormalities that lead to OSA, which means patients no longer face lifelong therapy. This will result in long-term cost savings. Our dental team is happy to discuss insurance coverage and our available payment plans for out-of-pocket expenses.
